Fri, 13 Jun 2008 16:55:00 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.6.5 en The end of online communications class http://tuckerm.edublogs.org/2008/06/13/the-end-of-online-communications-class/ http://tuckerm.edublogs.org/2008/06/13/the-end-of-online-communications-class/#comments Fri, 13 Jun 2008 16:55:00 +0000 tuckerm http://tuckerm.edublogs.org/?p=26 Now that this class is almost over I really have time to think about all the important life skills I’ve gained.  The most important skill that was developed is independence.  If there’s a problem with a widget or something, we have to figure it out and fix it.  The second most important skill I improved was my writing.  I had to write multiple things on my blog every week.  The project I am most proud of is the little icon I designed for the sites.  It was the most enjoyable of all the projects I undertook.  There was a little bit more work to do in this class than I was anticipating, but I am still glad I took it.

The “about me” page is still a work in progress as I am waiting for his email that will have his “about me” paragraph. I added a “writing help” section containing several widgets intended to help students through their writers block.

In the email I asked him what content he’s going to want on his website. The thing he is most interested in is a calendar so students can know what the homework is. After setting up the calendar I will email him again requesting further instructions.

It wasn’t very difficult to figure out. Our seats were changed around and I am now sitting in the front of the room. All my saved passwords and favorite pages are now missing because of the move, but I believe I can overcome this adversity and make the best gosh darn blog ever.

I personally have no protection software on my computer. I don’t feel it is important to restrict what content is viewable for people. I think the anonymity of the internet is a good thing in most circumstances.

I don’t believe this is true. People have always been desensitized to violence, gladiatorial fights and public executions greatly predate violent movies and videogames. If anything I believe that fighting is less socially acceptable than it was 40 years ago.

We had to use microsoft encoder and a headset. It took a few tries to get it done right, but we eventually finished it without screwing up. I think we will get an A+ for our exceptional tutorial.

I went through this same ordeal that week. The edublogs site is a little difficult to navigate and is painfully slow.
